xii

Sleep,
as we wait for impending rains
we prayed would grace our ground again

as goldenrod sways
and leaves invert
we know the skies will quench our thirst.
the dust will soon turn back to dirt.

And we can soon rest easy.

viii

While I slept
I told myself,

remind him that you love him,
red as sunsets
blue as berries,
on both lighted and shadowy days.

The stars and the moon agreed,
so here I stand.

The gods smile

When we are shoulder to shoulder,

Hip to hip,

Engaged in honest work

With purpose.

Hovering over the sink filled with sweetness.

Meditating closer to a life

Filled with cinnamon and honey.
